6 Books a Year - 10 Year Anniversary

To celebrate 10 years of our book club, we spent a weekend at a house in Sonoma in April 2013.  Friday night, we had a great dinner in town at the Girl and the Fig.  Saturday a lot of time was spent chilling out by the pool and going on walks, and on Saturday night, we had a gourmet meal prepared by a chef hired by Liz, and wine pairings with a sommelier (another wonderful treat from Liz!)

The book was State of Wonder by Anne Patchett, chosen by Amy.  We squeezed in a book discussion at the end of the weekend during breakfast on Sunday!  I liked the book a lot.

Our official anniversary was June 16, but with busy summers, April was the best time to meet up.

It was a truly special weekend with close friends.

I made a slideshow with photos from our last ten years.  Here's to the next 10!

What an incredible weekend! And for me, it was a much needed time of relaxation with a group of amazing friends.

In case you forgot, our winner from the Race Against Humanity game:
"When the world is ravaged by famine, the only solace is a sausage festival."

Oh and ... if you didn't know what Lisa and I were chanting, it was the first paragraph of Canterbury Tales by Chaucer (in Middle English). Now, I was an English major who took a class called "Chaucer." And Lisa? Well, she just has an amazing, well-rounded education.

"Whan that Aprill with his shoures [showers] soote [sweet]
The droghte [drought] of March hath perced [pierced] to the roote,
And bathed every veyne [vein] in swich licour [liquor/moisture]
Of which vertu [virtue/strength] engendred is the flour [flower];
… Thanne [Then] longen folk to goon [go] on pilgrimages …"

-Chaucer
