Seeking Mr. Penumbra, among other things...

When we read the mysterious Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, little did we expect to end up wrapped up with our own conundrum. That said, surely it was the book's cryptic situations, and teamwork-oriented solutions, that ensured our own success as we went from uncovering a mystery ("What happened to Jennifer's furniture?") to enjoying a congratulatory lunch ("What a beautiful new house!!")


As devious as the leadership of the Unbroken Spine, Jennifer sent us from Small Rock Ice Cream (excuse me, the Cold Stone Creamery) to a Penumbra-esque bookstore, to a pizza joint featuring the mushroom-free Hogwart's Special ("do you have anything, um, off the menu?") and finally to an underground rendezvous. We may not have required the full processing power behind Google to find her new family headquarters, but we probably had just as much fun as the quirky characters in the book.
