All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Karen's pick in April 2019 was the Pulitzer Prize winning novel, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.

Many liked the book. Some enjoyed the fresh perspectives it offered. For example, one of the main characters was a Nazi soldier. Many novels and movies will depict these characters stereotypically as cold and unfeeling, but in this novel, the character was developed as a real person. Others liked the tenacity of the blind character, and still others found the mystery of the hidden diamond unfolding to be interesting.
Others had mixed thoughts and struggled with the frequent shifts in scenes and timelines.  For all, it stimulated some interesting discussions.

Lisa graciously opened her home to us and served us delicious food and yummy beverages. Thank you, Lisa! We missed Liz and Rebecca and hope to see them next time.
